"I look for new flavors reminiscent of the many different foods I have come across during my years of travels. While pursuing a diploma in the travel industry, I thoroughly explored all of Europe, from Gibraltar to Vienna, and I discovered a wide variety of foods and flavors that I use today in my cooking. But most inspiring to me, were my teenage years spent in Lebanon, which is the basis of my love for mediterranean products."
A Taste of Paris
My love for crêpes go back from my years at The Louvre. I would run from the Louvre Museum to the Grand Boulevard and get my favorite crêpe ”La Complete” from my favorite crêpes bar stand for 17 francs — or the equivalent of 3 euros today!
I experienced, as you will, how filling and satisfying a traditionally made crêpe is. You are satisfied but light until dinner time. And it’s healthy!
"My background as a painter and docent at the Louvre inspires me every day in the cooking process: scents bring up colors for me. The fragrance of ingredients comes 'translated' in my mind with a color, then an immediate association pops out and I visualize another color, and to this color corresponds another ingredient."
When she moved to Chapel Hill, Véronique took her artistry and love of colors and channeled it into traditional French cooking at the original Crepes Veronique location in Chapel Hill. Later, she developed a Sunday brunch service at Provence in Carrboro. More recently, she brought her unique culinary talents to Oasis Cafe in Carr Mill Mall, working specifically on gluten-free and vegetarian options.
